Internet-of-things startup, SmartThings, has closed a $3m seed round. The round was led by First Round Capital and includes contributions from a swathe of angel networks and angels, including SV Angel, Lerer Ventures and CrunchFund. The startup will use the funding to launch a competition to grow the size of its 1,000-strong developer/maker community.
