Family moves into new Habitat for Humanity home - WTOC.com

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Months of hard work are finally paying off for some of Savannah's newest residents. The Rodriguez family blessed their new home Wednesday evening with help from the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity.

WTOC was there when they broke ground back in March and more than 300 man hours later, they have all the space their growing family will ever need. But they didn't just sit back and watch the house go up, Derrick and Cindy Rodriguez pitched in over 300 hours themselves to make their dream come true.

"I'm more excited for my kids than anything because now we are giving them something that I had growing up. I lived in a nice house in a nice community and I'm just excited to see them own their own space. I'm very excited about that," said Cindy Rodriguez.

Thrivent Financial pitched in nearly $65,000 to complete the Rodriguez family's new home.
