Director of Finance & Business Operations

The Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation seeks a Director of Finance and Business Operations who will become a key member of the dynamic executive team.? Located in Norden, California (Truckee-Tahoe area), the Foundation has two vibrant and growing programs: the Sugar Bowl Ski Team ? a 450+ member junior ski team featuring numerous top ranked junior skiers and U. S. Ski Team aspirants, and Sugar Bowl Academy ? a 65 student college prep high school.? The Director of Finance and Business Operations will oversee all strategic and tactical aspects of the Foundation?s front and back office operations including finance, accounting, risk management, HR, administration and facilities management. The position reports to the Foundation?s Head and will work closely with teachers, the coaching staff, and fundraising staff to plan and execute the short and long term business and financial goals.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Management
  • Develop and manage all budgets
  • Prepare financial reports as specified by Head and Board of Directors
  • Manage AR and AP through the Accounts Supervisor
  • Work with foundations tax accountant to prepare tax filings
  • Manage all banking and audit functions

• Information Technology
  • phone, internet/intranet, computers, email, all applications and business systems

• Business and Facilities Operations
  • buildings, utilities, transportation, food services, snow removal, permits. New campus construction cost accounting oversight including planning, cash flow management, and senior management/Board reporting

• Human Resources Administration
  • Payroll, workers comp, personnel policies, retirement fund, compliance, training and benefits
  • Risk management, property casualty and liability coverage
  • Manage scholarship and financial aid policy, applications, and distribution
  • Manage annual ski team registration process, CRM portal/database
  • Recordkeeping for ski team and academy programs

• Committee and Board of Trustee Responsibilities
  • Finance Committee member
  • Create and maintain regular financial reporting to Head and Board
  • Accountable to Audit Committee

As such the successful candidate will need to skillfully deal with participants and stakeholders representing a wide spectrum of ages and interests. ?The DFO will be a strong team player who is equally comfortable in a strategic capacity, management role and/or hands on individual contributor. Initiative, perseverance and creativity coupled with a results oriented can- do attitude are a must. The Director should be comfortable in large group situations often making order and calm from seemingly chaotic situations.?

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.

Education, Skills and Qualifications:

• 5 to 10 year successful track record in finance and operations
• 3 to 5 years management culminating in leadership responsibilities
• BS degree preferably in Business or Finance (CPA or CMA - nice to have)
• Experience with non profit, academic and sports institutions desired
• Conversant with MS office applications including Word and Powerpoint
• Highly proficient in Excel
• Proficient in QuickBooks or equivalent accounting application
• General understanding of IT issues relative to small business venture
• Familiarity with commercial ERP or CRM applications (Salesforce a plus)
